Illinois State Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) has encouraged his supporters to attend an event for his re-election campaign scheduled for the beginning of next month in Rock Island County.
Swanson announced the June 6 campaign stop in Coal Valley in a May 24 Facebook post.
"I hope you'll join me at Happy Joe's Pizza in Coal Valley on Monday, June 6," Swanson wrote in his post.
State Senate Candidate Mike Thoms, the current Rock Island mayor, and Congressional Candidate Esther Joy King, a veteran in the reserve, will join Swanson at Happy Joe's located at 320 West 1st Ave. Both candidates are also Republican.
King is running to represent the state's 17th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. According to her campaign website, she has been a lawyer and Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. When she was growing up her parents were missionaries on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Swanson and Thoms previously spent time campaigning together. According to the Galesburg Reporter, the two went door-to-door in Galesburg back in April to speak personally and meet with voters in the district. Swanson first took office in The Illinois House of Representatives in 2017. Illinois' primary election is scheduled for June 28.
