The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police gave its endorsement to Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Sterling) as she is running uncontested in the Nov. 8 general election.

“Proud to have the support of Illinois Fraternal Order of Police,” she wrote on Facebook.

McCombie was elected to represent the 71st District in 2016. She is a lifelong resident of Savanna, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University. She owns and operates Blue Appraisals and is a real estate broker with MelFoster Company. Her previous political experience includes time as the mayor of Savanna, and as a councilwoman on the Savanna City Council.

On Sept. 29, she encouraged Illinois residents to take advantage of early voting and to make sure their voices were heard. "Early voting has begun! If you requested a ballot, you are the lucky winners of some information about me!" McCombie wrote in a Sept. 29 Facebook post. "Thanks for being engaged and taking your civic duty seriously! If you or someone you know is not registered to vote, they may register to vote online here: https://ova.elections.il.gov/ and vote on Election Day, November 8th at your local polling place."

Also in September, McCombie spoke about increases in insurance rates. McCombie believes government spending and Democratic policies are to blame for the price hike.

"Here we go!" McCombie wrote in a Sept.16 Facebook post. "This is no surprise to me! Higher government spending and bad government policy caused this problem! Please do your research and vote accordingly this November! #nothingsfree #stopspending #yourvoiceyourvote"
