City of Moline Library Board of Directors met June 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order

Committee Chair, Elaine Kaple, called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. in the Library Platinum Room.

Policies Under Review

Information Services Policy. After discussion and with consensus, the Committee will make a recommendation to the full Board to accept the Information Services Policy, with changes, at the July Board meeting.

Public Computer Use and Wifi Policy. After discussion and with consensus, the Committee will make a recommendation to the full Board to accept the Public Computer Use and Wifi Policy, with changes, at the July Board meeting.

Circulation Policy. After discussion and with consensus, the Committee will make a recommendation to the full Board to accept the Circulation Policy, with changes, at the July Board meeting.

Other

Lear mentioned City Council has been discussing absenteeism in regards to all city boards and commissions, including the Library Board. The Council established an acceptable amount of absences per year for each board and commission. The Library Board will be allowed four absences per year. City ordinance will supersede any board bylaws.

Public Comment

Jim Ege inquired about the diversity of Moline and wondered if it would be appropriate to have translations of all the policies available. Lear will look into this.

Adjournment

There being no further business brought before the Policy Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
