NEW BUSINESS
1. Retirement Acceptance of Detective Jeremy McAuliffe (Steve VenHuizen, Deputy Chief of Police) Explanation: Detective Jeremy McAuliffe submitted his notice of intent to retire on May 14, 2024, effective July 15, 2024, after 28 years of dedicated service. His last working day will be June 7, 2024.
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends acceptance of the retirement of Detective Jeremy McAuliffe effective July 15, 2024.
2. Resignation Acceptance of Officer Jennifer Laud (Steve VenHuizen, Deputy Chief of Police) Explanation: Officer Jennifer Laud submitted her notice of intent to resign on May 14, 2024, effective at the end of her final shift on May 28, 2024, after 13 years of dedicated service.
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends acceptance of the resignation of Jennifer Laud effective May 28, 2024.
3. Request to Fill Police Officer Vacancies (Steve VenHuizen, Deputy Chief of Police)
Explanation: Due to the retirement of Jeremy McAuliffe and the resignation of Jennifer Laud, two additional vacancies exist in the rank of Police Officer.
Staff Recommendation: Staff request authorization to fill the vacancies with two new Police Officers from the Police Officer Eligibility Register at a date to be determined.
4. Probationary Appointment of Police Officer (Steve VenHuizen, Deputy Chief of Police) Explanation: Eriberto Gutierrez-Gallegos, the number one candidate, on the Police Officer Eligibility Register, has successfully completed his background investigation.
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommend the probationary appointment of Police Officer Eriberto Gutierrez Gallegos effective August 5, 2024, contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements.
5. Probationary Appointment of Police Officer (Steve VenHuizen, Deputy Chief of Police) Explanation: Gavin Grace, the number two candidate, on the Police Officer Eligibility Register, has successfully completed his background investigation.
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommend the probationary appointment of Police Officer Gavin Grace effective August 5, 2024, contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements.
6. Elect Chairperson (Summer O’Leary, Interim-Recording Secretary)
Explanation: Pursuant to Chapter I, Section 3 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners; The Board shall annually, on the first meeting in June, elect a chair who shall hold office until the end of the fiscal year of the municipality and until a successor is duly elected and qualified.
Staff Recommendation: Staff request the Board make the election pursuant to Chapter I, Section 3 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
