It was a pleasant evening for the Mercer County Fair tractor pull and livestock auction over the weekend. Community members annually support the Mercer County Youth Livestock Auction, raising $72,000 this year, nearing an auction record. "I got to be a part of the fun as a ring man and I auctioned a couple beef," one participant noted. The youth work diligently with their animals daily to get them “show” ready, providing proper feed ratios to achieve optimal weight gain.
Expressions of gratitude were extended: "Thank you to everyone who supports the youth livestock auction." Special thanks were given to Katie Laleman for action photos. The event also included pictures with county fair royalty members.
At the Knox County Fair, another pleasant night saw a great crowd. The Knox County Fair committee received congratulations for relocating the stage and concert area to an open space. "The show must go on!" said one attendee. Appreciation was also expressed towards Sheriff Harlan and Knox County deputies for maintaining traffic flow and visibility, along with First Responders being ready if needed.
