WOODHULL – In response to the increasing number of scams targeting local residents, State Representative Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) is collaborating with Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois, local sheriffs, and the Illinois Attorney General’s office to host a seminar on scam avoidance.
“We have all heard the stories of financial scams going around. Many of us even have friends or relatives who have been harmed by a scammer,” Swanson said. “Join us to find out how to protect yourself and your loved ones from being scammed.”
The seminar will take place on Tuesday, August 20, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Oxford American Legion post, located at 211 W. A Street in Alpha.
Representatives from the Illinois Attorney General’s office will provide updates on the latest scams and offer advice on how to avoid falling victim to them. Local sheriffs will also be present to discuss prevalent scams in their counties.
