Friday morning, several local legislators participated in the Quad Cities Chamber 2025 Legislative Event at Bally's. Among those present were Senators Anderson, Halpin, Arellano, Representative Johnson, and others. The breakfast event saw attendance from local leaders, business owners, and school officials. Common topics discussed included overregulation, high property taxes, housing shortages, and ensuring a level playing field.

Later that evening, Tammy and I attended the Knox County Pork Producers annual banquet held at Lake Storey's Pavilion. During the event, Pete Holmes was inducted into the Knox County Pork Producers Hall of Fame. Holmes began farming independently in 1972 and has been involved in farrowing and finishing hogs in the field since then. He has a history of participating in 4-H and FFA shows with pigs and cattle. Alongside his wife Diane, Holmes has played a leadership role in the Warangal Trailblazers 4-H Club for many years.

On Saturday, the 107th Annual Knox County Farm Bureau meeting took place. It provided an opportunity to engage with local farmers, business owners, and FFA students who attended. Leader Hammond joined me to discuss some thoughts on the upcoming legislative session.
