The Augustana men's basketball team will open the season against a former coach and then take on three conference rivals before Christmas, according to the 2016-17 schedule released on the school's athletic website.
The Vikings, who are coming off a 29-2 season, open against MacMurray on Nov. 15 in Jacksonville, Illinois. Former Augustana assistant Todd Creal is the head coach for MacMurray.
Later, the Vikings will play three straight home games in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin: North Park on Dec. 3, Wheaton on Dec. 7 and Carthage on Dec. 10. Augustana has to play conference games before Christmas because of Carroll rejoining the league, which increased the number of league games each team must play.
Other notable games on the schedule include a home game with Washington-St. Louis on Nov. 27, and road games against Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Dec. 13 and Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Dec. 31.
The CCIW tournament begins Feb. 24 at a site to be determined.
