Silvis City Council approves software renewal

The Silvis City Council met Oct. 24 to approve fire department software renewal.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

Alderman Bob Cervantes called meeting to order at 5:30pm and noted he had a ??orum. Members present: Alderman Bob Cervantes, Alderwoman Caryn Unsicker. Member absent: Todd Malmstrom Also present: Alderman Rick Lohse, Alderman Matt Carter, Alderwoman Kathy Hall, Fire Chief David Leibovitz and City Clerk Jim Nelson

Alderman Bob Cervantes noted that Chief Leibovitz had a renewal for the Fire Department “I am Responding program” software. This is a program that allows a volunteer fireman push a button on his phone and on a screen at the Station the duty Chief will then realize how many firefighters he has in-route to the station. It turns out that this item was not budgeted for. Clerk Nelson recommended that the Chieftalk to our accountant and set up a chart of accounts line item for software renewal. The 5 year renewal cost is $3,137. The 5 year renewal cost saves the City S125 per year. Alderman Carter recommended that for this year $1,000 be taken from Fire Department Small Equipment Purchase, $1,000 from Fire Department Major Equipment repair, and $1,137 from Fire Department fuel and oil. It also was the recommendation of the committee for the Fire Department to set up a software renewal line item for future budgeting. It was the recommendation of the committee to place “I am Responding program” software at a cost of $3,137 on the 1 November 2016 agenda for approval. There were no other agenda items, the meeting adjourned at 5:48pm
