Augustana singles star doubles up on honors

Tennis

Augustana tennis player Lauren Goggin has earned the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week award for the second time this season, according to the school's website.

She won the honor for the first time last fall.

Goggin, a senior from Arlington Heights, won two singles matches and a doubles match against Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wisconsin-Whitewater on March 12.

In one of her singles wins, Goggin beat Megan Humphreys of Wisconsin-Whitewater, who was ranked No. 5 nationally coming into the match. Goggin won 7-6 (7-1), 6-2. Goggin's other singles win was over Bailey Sagen of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 6-0, 6-0.

Goggin's efforts brought her career win total to 177 in singles and doubles combined --  one win off the school record set by Kim Sawyer from 2010 to 2014.
