Augustana hoops star gives team best news in 20 years
Augustana senior center Kaycee Kallenberger has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region third team, the school's athletic website reported recently.
The honor was the highest for the Vikings women's program since Kristin Schaefer earned Academic All-American status in 1997.
Kallenberger averaged 12.2 points and 11.5 rebounds last season. In College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin games, she averaged 12.1 rebounds and 2.94 blocked shots, both of which led the league.
Kallenberger, who was Augustana's first All-CCIW first-team pick since the 2003-04 season, set a program record for most rebounds in a season with 299, topping Katy Hulin's 292 in 1988-89. She also tied the team records for average rebounds per game in a season as well as most rebounds in a game, with 21. She also finished her two-year Augustana career second in blocked shots, with 143, and has the second- and third-highest single-season totals in that category.
