The state's top Republican joined the celebration of one of the greatest American Republicans in history, the Illinois GOP announced.
Gov. Bruce Rauner attended the Rock Island County Republicans Lincoln Day Dinner on April 29 at the Viking Club in Moline, providing area Republicans an opportunity to voice their support for his efforts.
Rauner stopped by for about an hour, giving him time to meet with party supporters in attendance and offer a brief speech. Other notable speakers include Sen. Neil Anderson (R-Moline) and Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna).
In its invitation, the GOP promised an evening “packed with good speakers, great food and great fellowship." While the group will accept walk-ins, it asks that those planning to attend reserve their spots. The event began with a social at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The Viking Club is located at 1450 41st Street.
The Rock Island County GOP also announced that its upcoming central committee meeting, the date for which has not been decided, will be a social event and feature a screening of the film Hillary’s America by Dinesh D’Souza.
