City of Silvis Ordinance Committee met April 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Attendance: Todd Malmstrom, Larry York, Kathy Hall, Bob Cervantes, Rick Lohse, Jim Nelson Caryn Unsicker, Matt Carter, Jim Grafton

Members absent: Todd Malmstrom

Location: City Hall 12111"Street

AlderWoman Hall called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm and noted a quorum was present to discuss two agenda items.

The first item was discussion on the term of the Deputy Clerk. Section 2-267 of the code of ordinances needs to include language that the term of the DC should coincide with the term of the Clerk. Alderwoman Unsicker would like the term of the Deputy Clerk to match the term as adopted by ordinance 2009-11. Would her time elsewhere affect her other commitments (DC) question by Alderman York. Clerk Nelson said that she does not have another job so she is readily available. Some further discussion if the current Clerk were to leave mid-term however her term would depend on how long the Clerk is into the current term. If the DC was not performing the job duties then the risk would Continue to the end of the term. Committee was in agreement to leave the ordinance unchanged.

The next agenda item was discussion on elected officials to participate in IMRF. This would apply to the Mayor and City Clerk since they would work more than 600 hours per year. Clerk Nelson explained the specifics and fielded a few questions. The recommendation of the committee was to move to the May 2nd COW agenda for consideration.

There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 6:17 pm.
