City of Silvis Personnel, Insurance and Public Safety met June 14.

The meeting was called to order at 5:25pm and it was noted a quorum was present for the Personnel, Insurance and the Public Safety Committee.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the need to hire another police officer to replace retiring officer Brad VanHootte. It was noted we already approved hiring an officer. His last day was June 7, 2017 (on the books until the 20"). The Chief reported that he has one slot reserved for August training and the Chief is trying to get a second reservation. A list is in the process of being established. Alderman Tony asked for clarification on the process of hiring. The item would be placed on the June 20" COW agenda (under Public Safety) for full council consideration. Alderman Malmstrom representing Public Safety committee concurs with the recommendation to hire another officer.
There were no other agenda items and the meeting was adjourned at 5:27pm.
