The Rock Island Republican Organization highlighted a number of upcoming events in a recent newsletter, including the Illinois State Fair and several opportunities to engage with state lawmakers.
The Illinois State Fair will run from Aug. 10 to 20 in Springfield, with Governor’s Day on Aug. 16 presenting an opportunity for attendees to join Gov. Bruce Rauner at the fairgrounds. The group noted that members of the Ronald Reagan Breakfast Club will be carpooling to Springfield for Governor’s Day.
Closer to home, two Coffee & Conversation sessions with Sen. Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) will take place in August. From 9 to 11 a.m. on Aug. 10, Anderson will be at Theo’s Java Club in Rock Island, joined by co-host Mayor Mike Thoms. On Aug. 25, he and co-host Ron Oelke will be at the Andalusia Family Café in Andalusia.
Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) will also be available to constituents when she attends Farm Fest on Aug. 19 at Sandrock Farms in Rock Falls. It is a free event, but families are encouraged to donate $25 for McCombie’s 2018 campaign. McCombie will also be at the annual golf outing on Aug. 24 at Byron Hills Golf Course in Port Byron, which has a $50 ticket price.
The August GOP Central Committee Meeting will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the organization’s new headquarters on 16th Street in Rock Island.
