Patrons of the Rock Island Public Library and registered students at Augustana College now can borrow materials from both places, according to a press release.
"Augustana remains a committed partner to Rock Island," Carla Tracy, Augustana's Thomas Tredway Library director, said in the release. "We are so glad that our libraries can work together to serve both the citizens of Rock Island and Augie students,"
Augustana College students must show current college ID to use the public library, while public library patrons will need to use their current library cards at the college.
"Offering college students access to a public library while they are staying in Rock Island allows them to supplement academic reading with a diversion, such as a bestseller or DVD, encourages familiarity with library programs, and connects them with our community," library Director Angela Campbell said in the release. "A library card is just the beginning of what a public library can offer for students of all ages."
Inter-library loans and access to contractually stipulated electronic resources are not included in the reciprocity agreement.
