South Moline Township Board of Trustee met September 5.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Present — Tracy Best, Supervisor; Andrea Anderson, Trustee; Lisa Griffin, Trustee; Mark

Lundahl, Trustee; Brian Forsberg, Trustee; and Rob Vyncke, Clerk. Absent: Rick Mellinger,

Assessor and Bob Schultz, Road Commissioner.

Meeting Called to Order — Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Supervisor Best.

Pledge of Allegiance

Approval of Minutes — Motion by Griffin, second by Forsberg, that we approve the minutes

of August 21, 2017. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.

Officials' Reports —

a. Road Commissioner — Absent. Best reported that they are getting ready to start with the

second half of the road resurfacing. There are also some culverts that need to be

replaced. They are located on the borderline with city property, so SMT and the city will be

sharing costs.

b. Assessor — Mellinger advised Best that the new assessments will be coming out soon.

c. Clerk — None

d. Trustees — None

e. Cemetery — Tim Stoelk will be leaving the board soon and we need to find a replacement.

f. Seniors — We received one bid for new cabinets at approximately $5,000.00. We will be

seeking more bids. We also received a bid for new flooring at $12,000.00. Again, we are

still researching, with more bids to come.

g. Youth — Best will be contacting school principals to see who the needy students are for

the $100.00 vouchers for new clothing, as we did last year.

Supervisor's Report —

GA: Pending 5; Active 14; Approved 3; Denied 3; Term 4; Withdrawn 2; Sanction 2; Total

33. EA: 0. WR: Approved 1.

Unfinished Business — Best informed all that St. Giuseppe’s still owes us for June rent.

Also, we had some additional cost in dismantling their old cooler. The total they owe us is

approximately $1,900.00. Best will be contacting them in writing. Their old sign also has been

removed.

Best asked all for input on a new sign out front. All agreed it’s a good idea, if it’s not too expensive.

Best will contact the sign company for design ideas and cost estimates.

New Business — There was some discussion on how much rent we should be asking for the

empty building. Some discussion followed, but no decision was reached.
