Glen Evans, who is looking to unseat incumbent Rep. Michael Halpin (D-Rock Island) in the 72nd District House race, knows the importance of having someone in Springfield who will fight for the people they are elected to serve, he said in a recent video posted on his Facebook page.
He is campaigning on issues such as financial relief for seniors, government transparency, bringing jobs to the state and ensuring the government acts with integrity, according to the video.
Evans has lived in Illinois his entire life and is a long-time community activist who hopes to bring diversity to the General Assembly, he said in the video. He wants to break-up the reign of career politicians such as House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago).

Halpin, an attorney, has been a member of the House since January 2017.
He has voted to pass legislation in support of the establishment of emergency prescription refill programs for veterans and to amend the property tax code by granting a Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze Homestead Exemption, which provides that the maximum income limitation is $75,000 for the taxable year 2017 and after that.
