Village of Alpha Board of Trustee met February 5. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kernan with the following board members present – Mike Petrovich, Alan Wendt, Ron Medley, Jason Lambin and Tena Anseeuw.


Tena Anseeuw made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 5, 2018 meeting and Alan Wendt seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

Alan Wendt made a motion to approve the bills for the month of February and Tena Anseeuw seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

Steve Norberg gave the treasurer’s report which showed the balance of $385,412 in all accounts. Included in that balance is 124,080 in the general fund, $125,335 in motor/fuel and $135,998 in water/sewer. There were only the normal receipts and bills for the month. Tena Anseeuw made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and Mike Petrovich seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

Jeff Kessinger gave the Public Works and Police report. The water and sewer usage was at an average usage. Replaced water meter at 401 E. A St. IEPA Inspection performed on 2/28/18 and found a few issues and will send a letter of recommendations. The police 29 building checks, 4 complaints and 1 special detail. Tena Anseeuw made a motion to accept the Public Works and Police report and Mike Petrovich seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

Liquor Commission Report: Discussed the Oxford Appreciation Day. The Legion applied for a special event. Dennis Shannon made a motion to accept the C Retail Special Event for Oxford Appreciation Day on April 14th and Alan Wendt seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

Streets/Alleys: Water/Sewer needs to meet end of this month or beginning of next to work on budget for 18- 19.

Community Development: ACT Meeting is March 12th. Working on Thrifty on 150. Will call to check on status of new Recycling Bin.

In Old Business: A Public Safety Handout was passed around and discussed. A resolve to support the Public Safety Tax was made by Dennis Shannon and seconded by Tena Anseeuw. The motion carried with all ayes. Dennis Shannon made a motion to allow Dean to propose a $500 a month lease to the Oxford Legion and Jason Lambin seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

In New Business: Tena Anseeuw made a motion to give the Alwood Prom a donation of $250 and Jason Lambin seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes. Audits are in your hands tonight. Alan Wendt made a motion to have the Alwood Lions do the flags this year and give them a $200 donation and Dennis Shannon seconded it. The motion carried with all ayes.

Jason Lambin made a motion to adjourn and seconded by Tena Anseeuw. The motion carried with all ayes.
