Rock Island Milan School District #41 Board of Education met May 22.

Here is the agenda provided by the Board:

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the minutes of the regular meeting of May 8, 2018, including executive session minutes I and II as presented.

A. Requests from persons wishing to speak on certain agenda items will be called upon at the appropriate time.

A. English Learners Program Update... Information

La’Shanta Williams will provide an update on the English Learners program.

B. Overnight Field Trip Requests... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the overnight field trip requests for the Rock Island High School Choir, Band, and Orchestra students to travel to New York City, New York March 10-16, 2019 and the Rock Island High School Volleyball team to travel to Normal, Illinois July 1- 10, 2018.

VII. Operations

A. 2018-19 Code of Conduct... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the 2018-19 Code of Conduct as presented.

B. May Fund Raiser Requests... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the May Fund Raiser requests.

VIII. Business/Finance

A. Prevailing Wage Act Resolution... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education adopt the 2018 Prevailing Wage Act resolution as presented.

B. Contracts for Services... Action

1) Lexia Learning Systems LLC

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve a software license agreement with Lexia Learning Systems LLC, Concord, MA in the amount of $107,500.00 for licenses at all elementary and junior high schools. Title funds will be used for this purchase.

2) Spring Forward Learning Center – Out of School Time Programs

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the contract for services with Spring Forward Learning Center, Rock Island, IL, in the amount not to exceed $108,320.00 to provide out of school time programming beginning June of 2018 and throughout the 2018-19 school year.

3) Martin Luther King, Jr. Center - Out of School Time Programs

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the contract for services with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Rock Island, IL, in the amount not to exceed $80,680.00 to provide out of school time programming beginning June of 2018 and throughout the 2018-19 school year.

C. List of Donations... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the list of donations.

D. Bills for Payment... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education authorize Bills for Payment dated May 1, 2018 in the amount of $721.50, May 2, 2018 in the amount of $33,053.63 and May 15, 2018 in the amount of $2,608,242.12.

IX. Personnel

A. 2017-18 Certified Appointments... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the 2017-18 certified appointment of Olivet Jagusah, Quinton Pedroza and Dominique Nunn.

B. 2018-19 Certified Appointments... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the 2018-19 certified appointments of Kelli Fletcher and Elizabeth Kongkousonh.

C. 2018-19 Certified Rehires... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the 2018-19 certified rehires of Stephanie Davis and Patrick Noya.

D. Certified Resignations... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the certified resignations of Aubry Moorman and Ashley Almquist.

E. Non-Certified Appointments... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the non-certified appointments of Bodie Amerson, Ruth Trammell, Robin Dennison, Maria Acosta, Solange Nyirasafari, Sofia Wajner and Matt Johnson.

F. Non-Certified Resignations... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the non-certified resignation of Barbara Braun and Bodie Amerson.

G. Non-Renewal of Non-Certified Staff... Action

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the non-renewal of the list of one (1) non-certified staff members.

H. Administrative Appointment... Action

A recommendation may be made at the meeting.

X. Executive Session

It is recommended that the Board of Education move to executive session to discuss negotiations and the appointment, employment, compensation, disci- pline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (1). Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (2).
