60th annual AMVETS 4th of July Parade kicks off Independence Day

The 60th Annual AMVETS 4th of July Parade is scheduled for downtown East Moline commencing with check-in at 10:30 a.m.

The “Through the Decades” themed procession is slated to begin at 1 p.m. on 13th Street with the John Deere Harvester Works parking lot serving as the meeting ground.

Colors will be presented by soldiers from the Rock Island Arsenal Army Sustainment Command, according to the Rock Island County Republican Central Committee. Food and drinks will also be sold with children carnival tickets selling for 25 cents each.


During the parade, 12th Avenue will be closed, as will 13th Street south to 18th Avenue. In addition, all of 15th Avenue will be closed, as well as every cross street from 3rd to 13th.

That same morning, the East Moline Fire Department will host a breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m.
