Silvis Fire Department responded to 77 calls in 2017 - 8.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Silvis included 34 fires - 18 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $70,000 in fire loss - or about $2,059 per fire.

The department also received 43 false calls, including seven malicious calls and 36 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury.

The Silvis Firefighters Pension Fund, which has one active employee and retired or inactive employee, was $12,051 positive as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $502 for every fire in 2016.
