Village of Annawan Board met May 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The Annawan Village Board met at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in the Village Hall.

Present were:

Mayor: Tim Wise

Trustees: Audie Sturtewagen, Kim Goodley, Nathan Stout, John Rico, and Mitch Heisler

Village Clerk: Julie DeSplinter

Previous Month’s Minutes

Sturtewagen, seconded by Heisler, made a motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.

Motion passed.

Monthly Bills

Stout, seconded by Rico, made a motion to pay the monthly bills. Motion passed. The balance in the General Fund on April 30, 2018 was $1,686,424.43.

Police Report

Chief Elliott gave the police report showing 15 calls for service, 329 Self-Initiated Activates, 31 Traffic Enforcement Activities, and 9 agency assists for the reporting period. There were 3 arrests. Chief Elliott attended Internal Affairs and Police Standards Training for 2 days.

Recreation Report from Lauren Dynes

There were 9 free rentals of the Community Center since the last report. Events to be held include: Fun Days; Prep Freeze Cook-July 29th; Summer Recreation Program-June 5th - July 7th. Grace Sturtewagen, Reese Randall, and Keagan Rico will be running the program and looking forward to a great group this summer! A Donor Wall is being discussed with several options to consider. The Fitness Center has 140 members on a mix of single and family monthly and yearly. Soccer has two weeks left. Baseball will begin soon.

Resolution 72

Sturtewagen, seconded by Heisler, made a motion to adopt Resolution 72, a resolution showing that $8,872.00 was transferred from the TIF 1 account to the General Account for TIF Attorney Kathleen Orr’s bills during the fiscal year and 1/3 of the cost of the audit by Blucker, Kneer, and Associates. Motion passed.

Water Rates

Stout, seconded by Heisler, made a motion to raise water rates from $11.50 for the first 2000 gallons to $12.50 for the first 2000 gallons, and to raise sewer rates from $11.50 for the first 2000 gallons to $13.50 for the first 2000 gallons. Motion passed. The minimum bill will see a $3.00 increase monthly.

Ordinance 380

Sturtewagen, seconded by Heisler, made a motion to pass Ordinance 380, and Ordinance concerning Nuisances and Residential Rubbish Rules to be added to Section Five of the Village Code. Motion passed. This Ordinance will help to get residential properties cleaned up.

Summer Reading Donation

Stout, seconded by Sturtewagen, made a motion to donate $300 to the Annawan/Alba Library’s Summer Reading Program. Motion passed.

Blue Dump Truck

Heisler, seconded by Stout, made a motion to sell the Blue Dump Truck by sealed bid. Motion passed.

2018-2019 Budget

Stout presented board members with a budget. Board members discussed the budget, made changes, and the budget will again be discussed at the May meeting.

There being no further business, Sturtewagen, seconded by Rico, made a motion to adjourn. Motion passed.
