Village of Woodhull Village Board met May 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Dave Holmes called the meeting to order on May 14, 2018 @ 7:00 pm.

Followed by roll call: Jeff Bell, Jason Carlson, Luke Gierach, Ron Hoburg, Derek VerHeecke, Jody York.

Also present: Michelle Keener – Treasurer, Jacki Beck – Village Clerk, Wayne Mileham – Public Works Superintendent, Chad Hillier – Police Chief. Dustin Dobbels – Public Works Assistant was absent from the meeting. (Attending classes for his Job for the Village).

Public Comments:

Bill Murfree, from the company Suez, was present at the meeting to discuss maintenance on the Village of Woodhull Water Tower. He presented a slideshow with photos of the condition of the different parts of the water tower that need to have work done and in need of painting. The Village Board will discuss the matter and decide how to move forward. Mayor Holmes thanked Mr. Murfree for his presentation and discussion on the condition of the Village Water Tower.

Scott Kammerman, from IMEG (formerly Missman) was also present at the meeting to give the Village Board the newest and updated plans for the Waste Water Treatment Plant and to set dates for the bidding process to begin.

Mikalyn Matter was at the meeting representing the Alwood Student Council to ask for a donation for a trip they are planning to Walt Disney World in Florida to give their time to a program called “Give the Kids the World” This is a service trip and she is asking for any amount of donation from the Village to help with cost of travel, food, car rental and the Condo they are all staying in.

Approval Of Minutes:

Ron Hoburg made a motion to approve the April 9, 2018 Regular Board Meeting Minutes as presented. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Derek VerHeecke made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Derek VerHeecke made a motion to cash out CD’s and put the money into the correct funds to use as appropriated except the sesquicentennial account 32652. Ron Hoburg seconded the motion. VerHeecke – Y, Hoburg – Y, Bell – Y, Carlson – Y, Gierach – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Luke Gierach made a motion to pay the bills from the various accounts as amended for General Fund and as presented for Water Fund. Jeff Bell seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Police/Civil Defense/Permits:

Police Chief Chad Hillier presented the April Police Department Activity Report as follows: Woodhull Police Department responded to 17 calls for service, conducted 20 traffic stops, 12 warnings, 5 citations being issued, used 69.5 gallons of Gasoline at a cost of $181.40.

Jason Carlson made a motion to approve the April Police Report as presented. Jody York seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Public Works Report:

Wayne Mileham presented the April Public Works Report as follows:

Wayne reported on the work done for the month of April for both the Streets Department and the

Water Department. Water pumped in April 2,319,744 gal. Average per day 77,552 gallons.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to approve the April Public Works Report as Presented. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Drainage Update:

Nothing at this time

Dangerous Building Update:

An update was given on a few properties needing attention.

Zoning Board Recommendations:

Nothing at this time

Parks/Recreation/Tourism:

Fun Fest is scheduled for Saturday July 21st 2018.

Economic Development:

Nothing at this time

Village Engineer Report:

Nothing at this time

Old Business:

Jeff Bell made a motion that the Village purchase a 6 ft 3 pt. Rotary Mower at a cost up to $1800.00. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Bell – Y, Carlson – Y, Gierach – Y, Hoburg – Y, VerHeecke – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

New Business:

Luke Gierach made a motion to go into Closed Session at 9:48 p.m. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Derek VerHeecke made a motion to return to Open Session at 10:30 p.m. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Ron Hoburg made a motion to Release for Public viewing the 2017 Closed Session Meeting Minutes except the following: May 8, 2017, August 14, 2017 and Sept 11, 2017. Luke Gierach seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.

Derek VerHeecke made a motion to have the Pre-Bid opening for the work on the WWTP on June 7th 2018 at 11:00 a.m. and the date for the Opening Bids on June 28th 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. VerHeecke – Y, Carlson – Y, Bell – Y, Gierach – Y, Hoburg – Y, York – Y. Motion carried 6-0.

Luke Gierach made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:49 p.m. Jason Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
