A group from Modern Woodmen of America’s home office in Rock Island recently took part in an initiative to give back to the local community.
The group prepared 450 backpacks on June 29, filling them with school supplies, and then donating them to local schools in need.
The contents of the backpacks were hand-picked for elementary-aged children and included pencils, crayons, markers and notebooks. Employees also added hand-written notes to students to encourage them in their studies and sent thank you notes to teachers for their efforts in educating children in the community.
Since 1883, Modern Woodmen of America has been serving communities across the country. In 2017, the group donated $20.6 million and 534,000 volunteer hours.
