UNITYPOINT HEALTH BOARD OF DIRECTORS - QUAD CITIES: Heart to Heart Series Showcases How to be a Healthier You

Gh

UnityPoint Health Board of Directors - Quad Cities recently issued the following announcement.

If you’re looking to live a more heart-healthy life, there’s plenty to think about. UnityPoint Health® – Trinity’s new Heart to Heart community education series aims to get you on the right track to eating better and feeling better.

UnityPoint Health – Trinity’s cardiology program is dedicated to improving the health of people in the Quad Cities area.

“Along with providing life-saving services, we are consistently working in the community to help people improve their day-to-day lives. The community education series is one way we’re doing that,” says Kathy Pulley, Director of Cardiology Services, UnityPoint Health – Trinity.

Dozens of people turned out to the first discussion at Trinity Rock Island’s Jardine Auditorium. Dr. Bouyella Reddy of Cardiovascular Medicine, P.C. presented to a room full of people eager to learn about heart health.

“Heart disease is the number one killer disease worldwide and it is often avoidable. Don’t wait for a heart attack to take action” says Dr. Reddy.

Healthy diet and lifestyle are key weapons to fighting heart disease. The discussion provided attendees with information on getting the right nutrients and importance of exercise, as well as treating blood pressure, cholesterol, or diabetes with less or no medicine.

As part of a comprehensive approach, UnityPoint Health® in the Quad Cities has expanded its heart care capabilities through the addition of the Pritikin ICRTM (Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation) program. Pritikin ICR allows for a more comprehensive and robust treatment plan and is a critical part of patient care following a cardiac event. Referral-based patients who enter the program will address necessary lifestyle changes that contribute to many chronic conditions, including heart disease. The ICR program, through the Trinity Heart Center located at the Trinity Rock Island campus.

The second Heart to Heart community education session will be held on from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. For information on how to register, CLICK HERE.
