State Rep. Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) made it a point to be on hand for Wreaths Across America held at Rock Island National Cemetery on Dec. 15.
“Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, our mission to remember, honor and teach is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 1,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad,” McCombie said in a post to her website.
The veteran lawmaker also recently won a return trip to Springfield when she knocked off Democratic challenger Joan Padilla in last month’s general election with 59 percent of the vote in House District 71.
Running on a platform largely calling for pension and budget reforms, McCombie bagged 23,810 votes to Padilla’s 16,736.
