Riverside Family Aquatic Center recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Moline and its residents have empathy for our neighbors in Davenport and the challenges they are facing with the flood situation. The City of Moline is faring well, but we are working with properties that are impacted and doing the best we can to mitigate circumstances as we are able. City of Moline, Public Works staff has been in contact with representatives from the state and the Rock Island County Emergency Management Agency.
Reimbursements for flood expenses for both private property and public efforts, will be calculated under a new formula. The advice given from the agency is to document all efforts and financial expenses related to flood mitigation. Rock Island County must meet an accumulative $500,000 minimum uninsured loss threshold to trigger a declaration.
Additionally, that $500,000 countywide loss will have to accompany a $19 million statewide uninsured loss to allow Illinois to successfully request federal assistance. Rock Island County was included today in Governor Pritzker’s state disaster proclamation on the list of 34 counties battling floods and heavy rains.
This declaration by the Governor allows those 34 counties to access state resources for a flood mitigation. The
Rock Island County Emergency Management agency will be performing damage assessments once flood waters recede and the situation unfolds. They will have updates on their website when more information is available.
