City of Rock Island Arts Advisory Committee met Oct. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Voting Members Present: Brett Hitchcock, Carolyn Krueger, Dawn Wohlford-Metallo, Tony Seabolt, Amber Williams, and Erik Hansen

Voting Members Absent Joedy Cook, and Jodie Kavensky,

Staff Present: Kathryn Douglass

Guests: Tim McGuire

Call to Order and Roll Call

Chair Brett Hitchcock called the meeting to order at 4:10 PM and read the roll call. He then introduced himself to visitor Tim McGuire, owner of Wild Cherry Spoon, and asked the other commissioners to do the same. They did so.

Public Comment

There were no members of the public in attendance.

Approval of the Agenda

Amber Williams moved to approve the October 9, 2019. Carolyn Krueger seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 6 to 0.

Approval of the Previous Meeting Minutes

Tony Seabolt moved to approve the minutes for September 11, 2019. Amber Williams seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 6 to 0.

Old Business

Dawn Wohlford-Metallo expressed her concern that the Jazzman mural attached to the YWCA building has not been taken down. She told the commission that removing the mural should be a priority because of it’s deteriorated condition.

New Business

A. The committee members described the role and goals of the Arts Commission to potential new member, Tim McGuire.

B. The Commissioners discussed the up coming Rock The Arts event.

Adjournment

Chair Brett Hitchcock asked for a motion to adjourn. Dawn Wohlford-Metallo moved to adjourn. Carolyn Krueger seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously on a vote of 6 to 0 at 4:50 PM.
