AUGUSTANA COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES: Clarinets for Conservation to be held February 29.

Augustana College Board of Trustees recently issued the following announcement.

The Augustana Clarinet Studio will present its sixth annual Clarinets for Conservation recital to benefit the Daraja Music Initiative.

This organization is concerned with the preservation of the mpingo tree, which provides the wood from which clarinets are made, and promotes sustainability through music education in Tanzania, where the tree grows.

Musicians in the recital will include Augustana students and members of the community, performing as soloists, chamber musicians, and in a massed clarinet choir.

A free will donation will be collected, with proceeds going to the Daraja Music Initiative.
