FRYXELL GEOLOGY MUSEUM: Excellence in the Liberal Arts winners named

Fryxell Geology Museum recently issues the following announcement.

Eight Augustana students are the recipients of the Excellence in the Liberal Arts Award, which provides students with $400-$4,000 for international study or summer programs in the humanities.

It was established by Dr. Dan Lee, professor of religion, and his wife, Ruth Lee.

The 2020 recipients of the award are:

Molly Bastida, a senior communications sciences and disorders major from St. Louis.

Natalia Czachorowski, an anthropology and geography major from Harwood Heights, Ill.

Amber Hanke, a senior an anthropology and women, gender, and sexuality studies major from Wheaton, Ill.

Jessica Kurkowski, a junior philosophy and sociology major from Peru, Ill.

Yinuo (Genesis) Li, a junior political science major from Beijing, China.

MacKenzie Peterson, a junior psychology and sociology majors from Metamora, Ill.

Monica Thompson, a senior history and art history major from Bucklin, Mo.

Ann Wheeler, a senior graphic design and communication studies major from Springfield, Ill.

The purpose of this award is to reward excellence in the liberal arts, including student academic achievement, amount of scholarly work done in the liberal arts including the humanities, achievement in co-curricular programs, and leadership and service both on and off-campus.
