Quad City Arts recently issued the following announcement.
Quad City Arts is excited to continue in the spirit of the Chalk Art Fest, celebrating creative expression and human connection through public art, while also supporting local area businesses in downtown Bettendorf.
Thanks to the Morency Family Foundation, we are still able to award cash prizes to the artists and cannot wait to see what wonderful masterpieces our community will come up with this year.
USE YOUR OWN PATIOS, BALCONIES AND FRONT WALKS, AND SHARE YOUR PROCESS AND END RESULTS THROUGH PHOTOS AND VIDEOS THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND BY TAGGING #CHALKARTFESTQC AND #QUADCITYARTS. ALL CHALK ARTISTS, FROM AMATEUR TO PROFESSIONAL, ARE ENCOURAGED TO CREATE THEIR OWN MASTERPIECES AND SHARE THEM WITH US!
ABOUT CHALK ART FEST
Artists will not be able to gather in-person this year, but Quad City Arts is committed to bringing this colorful street art festival to the community virtually and anyone and everyone is invited to participate! The virtual event will take place August 15-28th, where artists can create their work safely at home, on their driveway, sidewalk, porch or balcony.
Artists who tag @quadcityarts on Facebook or Instagram or use the hashtag #chalkartfestqc and #quadcityarts will have the photos and videos of their installations shared throughout the festival dates, as well as be entered to win one of several $25 gift cards to downtown Bettendorf retail and restaurant businesses. Over $1,500 in cash prizes will still be awarded to artists including a youth category award and people’s choice award! There are no limitations to your work, it can be in any size or shape and created with any type of chalk. To be eligible for the cash prizes, a photo of the completed work to Quad City Arts via email by August 28th, at 3pm.

Youth Award - $100 + $200 in art supplies awarded to artists’ school

Need Chalk? Complimentary 48-count boxes of pastel chalk will be available at Quad City Arts’ Rock Island Gallery during normal business hours until supplies run out. The Rock Island Gallery is located at 1715 2nd Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61265. Entrance is via arts alley on side of the building and masks are required.
