State Sen. Neil Anderson (R-Moline) was appointed to the Statewide 9-1-1 Advisory Board. The board is responsible for optimizing the state's 9-1-1 emergency system.

Anderson is confident in his ability to perform in this role given his own experience as a firefighter for over ten years in the Quad Cities area.

“Public safety is extremely important to me, which is why I became a firefighter and paramedic at the Moline Fire Department”  Anderson stated. “I hope my experience and knowledge from these experiences will ultimately help and improve the state’s emergency response system.”

Anderson was appointed by Senate Leader Dan McConchie (R-Lake Zurich). The Statewide 9-1-1 Advisory Board is comprised of 11 members with the director of State Police serving as chair. Anderson will serve as a non-voting member, one of four General Assembly members to do so.

One of the primary responsibilities of the board is to recommend 9-1-1 services to the governor and General Assembly. Every March the board submits a report on the state's progress in shifting to a statewide 9-1-1 system and recommending legislation to help accomplish that goal.

Anderson will serve on the Statewide 9-1-1 Advisory Board through March 2024. The board's next meeting is on April 12 and will be convened virtually.
