Report: Kewanee School District spent $9,850 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Kewanee Community Unit School District 229 was up 13.4 percent from five years ago, according to the Rock Island Today analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Henry County school district spent $8,687 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $9,850 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment rose from 1,950 to 1,975 students over the same period.

Kewanee's spending in 2019-20 was 32 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
