In an Oct. 21 Facebook post, Rep. Tony McCombie shared a visit to Genoa for an education round table. Tony McCombie was elected to represent the people residing in the 71st District in 2016. She is a lifelong resident of Savanna, Ill., and got a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University.

She owns and operates Blue Appraisals and is a real estate broker with MelFoster Company. Her past government work consists of time as the mayor of Savanna, Ill., and as a councilor on the Savanna City Council.

"State Representative Jeff Keicher and I hosted an education round table in Genoa" McCombie said. "It is important for us to hear from people from all industries, but to hear from our educators who are helping to mold our next leaders is quite moving! I have been listening to educators from this seat for 6 years and even with the challenges (many brought on by us in Springfield) there are two resounding statements... 'We love the kids' and 'Let us Teach!' I will continue to advocate for our educators, the kiddos and the families of the 89th! I look forward to working with you all!! Please take a moment to watch the 2022 Teacher of the Year... Kim Radostits from Oregon! Pretty exciting to hear all the wonderful things happening there! Congrats to you Mrs. Rad!!!"

The video confirming Radostits as Teacher of the Year can be found here.

McCombie revealed that she recently received an endorsement from a police group.

“Proud to have the support of Illinois Fraternal Order of Police,” she wrote on Facebook.
