Palmer College of Chiropractic hits record enrollment

Palmer College of Chiropractic hits record enrollment

Enrollment at Palmer College of Chiropractic has hit a record high with the incoming fall 2022 class, the Davenport college announced.

Palmer’s Main Campus in Davenport enrolled its largest fall class since 2007, and Palmer Florida enrolled its largest fall class in the 20 years since the campus opened, Palmer said in a news release.

“Applications to Palmer have been increasing over the past two years,” said Michael Norris, vice chancellor for admissions. “Palmer College has invested heavily in the student learning experience over the past several years, and I believe we’re seeing the positive impact of those strategic investments.”

Since 2017, Palmer’s Main Campus has been largely reimagined, with the construction of a leading-edge fitness center, modern student clinic, a student union outfitted with gaming, the David D. Palmer Learning Commons, state-of-the-art technique classrooms and wet and dry labs, and new student housing.

“Being the first chiropractic college in the world, this is the oldest campus in chiropractic, but with these investments we’re also the most innovative and cutting-edge campus in chiropractic,” said Dennis Marchiori, chancellor and CEO of Palmer College. “This is a hands-on, people-focused profession, and these investments are part of our commitment to creating a premier learning experience that prepares our students to become accomplished and successful Doctors of Chiropractic.”

To meet rising enrollment demands at Palmer Florida, a new academic building opened in February 2022. The 47,000-square-foot building provides space for an additional 100 students, offering high-tech lecture halls, technique classrooms and anatomy labs.

“The job outlook for our graduates is strong,” said Mr. Norris. “We have the largest alumni base among all chiropractic colleges, and they’re actively recruiting our students to either join or take over their practices. Our CareerNetwork posts about 3,500 jobs annually, so there are several fold more jobs than there are graduates.”

This is the latest major news for Palmer in the past few months. In September, during the college’s Homecoming Weekend, several new developments were unveiled:

  • The dedication of a new $23 million student housing building at 1039 Perry St., Davenport. The building, now open to students, is named the Paul and Donna VanDuyne Hall.
  • The college announced the launch of its largest capital campaign in its history – a $25 million Daring and Driven fundraising campaign.
  • Paul and Donna VanDuyne, co-chairs of the fundraising campaign and former students at Palmer, made a $2.5 million contribution to kickstart the campaign.
With more than 2,100 students enrolled across Palmer College’s three campuses, approximately one out of every five U.S. chiropractic students attends Palmer College.

Palmer College of Chiropractic is the first and largest chiropractic college in the world. In addition to its main campus in Davenport, it has branch campuses in Port Orange, Florida, and San Jose, California.
