COVID-19 Protocol Updates for Spring 2023 Semester

As Western Illinois University prepares for the Spring 2023 semester, the institution encourages all members of the campus community to continue to follow CDC and campus guidance to assist in the mitigation of the COVID-19 virus. The following COVID protocols and procedures have been adjusted for the spring semester.

University Testing Clinics
For the Spring 2023 semester, the University will end the operation of testing clinics and switch to a new format for individuals needing COVID testing. COVID-19, test kits are now available to WIU students, faculty and staff at the following locations during hours of operation:

Macomb Campus
Beu Health Center
University Union Service Center

Quad Cities Campus
Riverfront Hall Reception Desk
Individuals will be asked to provide their name and WIU ID number at the time of distribution. Test kits will be limited to one kit per day, and anyone who tests positive with COVID-19 will need to complete the WIU COVID-19 Self Reporting Form.

Return to Campus
Before returning to campus, all members of the campus community are encouraged to self-administer a COVID-19 test, available at a variety of retail locations or via https://www.covidtests.gov/.

Individuals who test positive with COVID-19 using an at-home or off-campus test should complete the WIU COVID-19 Self Reporting Form.

Proof of Vaccine Card Upload
Students are encouraged to continue reporting their COVID-19 vaccination records to the Beu Health Center Patient Portal.

Faculty and staff are no longer being asked to provide their COVID-19 vaccination records.

Cleaning Materials
Facilities Management will continue to offer cleaning supplies to classroom, office and common areas of campus. Building representatives in each area will also receive a small quantity of wipes to distribute with the option to request more through the Facilities Management work order request system. Sanitizer stations will remain stocked throughout campus.

Face Covering Distribution
Designated sites throughout campus will continue to have extra face coverings to provide to those who forget one or have a malfunctioning mask. Supplies will be limited in these locations, so individuals should make every effort to have their face coverings with them. To view locations, visit bit.ly/facecoverlocation.

Plastic Shields
Campus departments and areas now have the option to remove the plastic shield barriers. Building representatives should make requests through the Facilities Management work order system for proper removal. Individuals should not attempt to remove them on their own as they will be marked and stored when removed.
