Q2 2022 Recap: 3 parolees from Rock Island County convicted of homicide set for release

There were three offenders convicted of homicide living in Rock Island County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rock Island Today.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 51. The youngest parolee was a 45-year-old man sentenced in 2001, and the oldest was a 55-year-old man sentenced in 1995.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Monty C. Lewis. He was convicted in 1997 when he was 25 years old. He is now 51.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of homicide were paroled during the second quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
