Q2 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Rock Island County convicted of crimes involving weapons set for release

There were two offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons living in Rock Island County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Rock Island Today.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 30. The younger parolee was a 28-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 32-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Kaleb J. Mallek. He was convicted in 2019 when he was 24 years old. He is now 28.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
