City of Moline Keep Moline Beautiful Commission met Aug. 10.

Call to Order
Rodd Schick called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. in the Public Works Conference Room.
Roll Call
Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Andy Parer made a motion to approve the April KMB minutes. Pam Nelson seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
Old Business
KMB Planning
Pam Nelson will schedule a meeting for the sub-committee. Emily Freymann has started to look at the website. Committees and Commission functions need to be identified.
Likely will be looking to add additional commission members.
KMB Officer Nominations
Nominations are on hold until the sub-committee brings final recommendations to the Commission.
Committee Reports
1. Blue Can Group – wondering if the new transfer station at the airport will divert recycling from Scott County’s facility. Wondering if statistics were obtained from Plastic Free July event.
2. QC Earth Coalition – possibly being disbanded.
3. X-Stream Cleanup – working differently than in the past. They don’t organize events, they publicize and try to provide resources for others to conduct events.
4. Garden Guardians – gardens are looking great. Volunteer gardeners appreciation event set for Tuesday August 29th at Mary Lind’s house at 4:00 pm. Rain location will be the east shelter on Ben Butterworth Parkway. T-shirts are in. Kiosk at 41st Street has been repaired and updated map needs to be created and installed.
5. School Outreach – no report.
6. Downtown Events – Kirk Marske handed out and reviewed the full list of downtown events.
There will be a downtown merchants cleanup on Saturday August 19th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Laura Chumbley will get info from Karen Nader about TeraCycle’s cigarette butt receptacles program. Mary Lind is working with Kirk to inventory to landscape in the downtown.
7. City Update – starting to lose college seasonal staff. Decking was replaced on the Ben Butterworth bike path bridge at 34th street. Stephens Park playground has been removed to prepare for the installation of a new system. Riverside Park projects are in full swing.
