State Senator Neil Anderson | Illinois General Assembly

State Senator Neil Anderson is calling on constituents to participate in a special tribute to veterans by submitting photos and stories of their loved ones who served in the military. The submissions will be displayed in the rotunda of the Illinois Capitol from November 7 to November 20 in honor of Veterans Day.

The aim of this initiative is to pay tribute to veterans and honor their legacies and sacrifices. Senator Anderson is urging families to share a photo and a written story, with a maximum of 250 words, along with essential information such as the veteran's name, military branch, and the conflict they served in. The military photos are preferred but not mandatory.

"We want to create a meaningful display that showcases the bravery and dedication of our veterans," said Senator Anderson. "By sharing their stories and photos, we can ensure that their service and sacrifice are never forgotten."

Those interested in participating can email their submissions to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov. Submissions will be accepted until November 6, and the display will be updated daily to include new entries. Alternatively, submissions can be mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 110D Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706. For any inquiries, please contact (217) 782-7219.

This initiative serves as an opportunity for constituents to honor their loved ones and contribute to a larger commemoration of veterans. Senator Anderson is encouraging people to take part and make this tribute a truly representative and heartfelt display.

By showcasing the photos and stories of veterans, the Illinois Capitol will serve as a visual reminder of the bravery and sacrifices made by those who have served our nation. It will be a powerful tribute to their service and a reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to our veterans.

The display at the Illinois Capitol will not only honor those who have served but also educate and inspire future generations. It will provide an opportunity for visitors to connect with the personal stories and experiences of veterans, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for their service.

Let us all join Senator Anderson in commemorating our veterans by sharing their stories and honoring their sacrifices. By doing so, we can ensure that their legacy lives on and that their service is never forgotten.
