City of East Moline Special Service Area Committee met Aug. 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Present: Martin Corey, Patricia Hansen, Michelle Horton, Larry Anderson, Joe Perez

Absent: Lyndsay Smith, John Stopoulos, Dan Guerrero

City: City Administrator Mark Rothert, Alderman Adam Guthrie

Approval of Minutes – A motion from Michelle with a second from Joe minutes are approved as written. Guest – None

Financial Report Given by Mark – A motion from Patricia with a second from Larry financial report accepted as written.

Façade/ Fencing Applications – Mark – presented two new façade applications. With a motion from Patricia and a second from Larry the applications were denied.

Bills – Martin – Michelle and Patricia’s monthly bills were presented a motion by Larry, second from Joe. Bills to be paid. Directors Report – none

Flower Report – The hanging baskets will be taken down soon. We will make sure that Runners’ Park will look well groomed for Harmony Fest on September 7th. Discussions of hanging baskets for next year and planters was mentioned and will wait for final decision until more information regarding Raise Grant construction timeline is available.

Main Street Report – Paticia – Queens of Hearts pot had a winner and was up to over $53k. September 1st is the date for the response regarding the grant written for 40K which included funding some smaller items from the Raise Grant proposal this would be a two-year payout of approx. 20K each year from QC Community Foundation. Multicultural event Harmony Fest is coming along – September 7th. Three people will be appointed by the mayor to be on the EMMS Board for 2025. The book for the book walk will be changing soon and following this one we will feature 2 books both with local authors. Hereford Park Turtle Program is September 3rd. The Art window project has enough funds to finish the year and will impact not only the businesses but at least 10 artists. Lastly, an accountant has been secured for EMMS for the future.

RAISE Grant – Patricia brought up maintenance and making sure that the new plans are maintainable regarding manpower and funding.

Runners’ Park – Adam is talking to Scott Painting regarding the wood areas at Runners’ Park and getting them clear coated before winter. Also fixing some wood slats on a couple benches.

New Business – A short discussion regarding potential future budget adjustments and goals of the SSA Committee. Old Business - None
