State Representative Daniel Swanson (IL) | Representative Dan Swanson (R) 71st District
I began Veterans Day by discussing the 12 African American soldiers from Galesburg who served with the 54th Massachusetts Regiment during the Civil War on WGIL.
Following this, I attended a ceremony at Sherrard High School that honored a large number of veterans and their families.
After the event, I distributed 23 Illinois House of Representatives certificates to veterans and presented an Illinois flag, which had been flown over the Capitol complex, to the oldest veteran residing at Knox County Nursing Home. Later, I visited the Knoxville American Legion for chili soup and cornbread.
Subsequently, I traveled to Hawthorne where I awarded two House of Representatives certificates along with another Illinois flag that had been flown over the Capitol Complex.
