State Senator Neil Anderson has announced the launch of his 2025 Summer Reading Program for Illinois students. The initiative, which runs until August 1, aims to keep students engaged outside the classroom during the summer months.
Senator Anderson explained the purpose of the program: “My Summer Reading Program is designed to allow students the opportunity to read any book of their choice, whenever they choose and get rewarded for doing so.” He emphasized the importance of keeping young minds active when school is not in session.
The program invites all students from 1st through 12th grade to participate by reading eight books over the summer. Students can choose from a variety of genres including fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or biographies. Upon completing the challenge, participants will receive an official certificate of recognition from both the Illinois Senate and Senator Anderson's office.
Parents interested in enrolling their children can do so by filling out a short form available at participating local libraries or online at https://senatorneilanderson.com/summerreading2025/.
