Illinois State Representative Daniel Swanson has announced a new event in partnership with Monmouth College, called the Patriotic Salute to Veterans. The event is scheduled for Veterans Day at 7 p.m. and will take place in the Veterans Memorial Great Room, located on the main level of the college’s Center for Science and Business.

Monmouth College President Patricia Draves will deliver opening remarks. Swanson will conduct interviews with a Gold Star Mother and five local veterans, who will share their experiences from their time in service. Members of the Fighting Scots Marching Band will provide patriotic music during the event.

Swanson stated, "I am honored to team up with Monmouth College to host our first Patriotic Salute to Veterans. It will be on Veterans Day at 7PM in the Veterans Memorial Great Room, which is located on the main level of the college’s Center for Science and Business."

He added, "The event will feature opening remarks by Monmouth President Patricia Draves. I will interview a Gold Star Mother and 5 local veterans as they share their time in service experiences. In addition to remarks by the panelists patriotic music will be provided by Fighting Scots Marching Band members."

Swanson also said, "The event is free and open to the public, so come out and enjoy hearing from local heroes!! Mark your calendars."

Daniel Swanson was elected as a Republican representative to Illinois’ 71st House District in 2023, succeeding Donald L. Moffitt.
