The Sixth Avenue and 23rd Street intersection will be shut down Monday for construction.
The intersection of Sixth Avenue and 23rd Street in Rock Island will close Monday to accommodate new water main construction.
The water mains are part of a larger relief sewer system project underway in the city.
City officials expect the intersection to remain closed through at least March 18. The intersection will be temporarily interrupted again later in the spring to put down a final layer of pavement.
City officials have cautioned drivers to expect delays in the area around the intersection and to be prepared to follow a detour along 24th Street.
