State Senator Neil Anderson and State Representative Norine Hammond concluded a successful Senior Expo in Carthage, providing free resources and services to local seniors. The event featured nearly 40 vendors, including first responders and various agencies.

“Our seniors play an incredible role in our communities and hosting an event like this in a rural area ensures they have convenient access to important services,” said Senator Anderson.

Attendees received health screenings and services such as blood pressure checks, A1C tests, strength assessments, ICASH assistance, prescription drug disposal, and veterans’ services.

“This event is truly a one-stop shop for seniors in west central Illinois,” said Representative Hammond. “It’s not only a chance to connect our senior community with the services they need, but it also allows us as legislators to hear directly from residents and service providers about the issues that matter most.”

Senator Anderson and Representative Hammond plan to continue hosting the Senior Expo annually with hopes of expanding it further.

Participating organizations included AGE Rehab & Medical Fitness, Alternatives for Older Adults, Alzheimer’s Association, Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program, Aetna, AT&T, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Carthage Police Department, Carthage Public Library, Evergreen Center, Hancock County Clerk, Hancock County ESDA, Hancock County Health Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Grove, Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, Illinois State Police, Maple Grove, MDH Home Health Care, Memorial Hospital, Meridian among others.
