Rock Island-Milan School District 41 (RISD) has announced that it will gather for a special board meeting “retreat” at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, March 29, at Bennigan’s in the city of Rock Island.

Following opening activities, the board will consider an administrator residency, particularly as it relates to policy.

Additionally, board members will review school improvement grant funding, with emphasis on how funds are expended by each individual school.

Members will examine proposals for strategic planning prior to reviewing the strategic plan components of an organizational chart, academic progress, key priorities and a scorecard review prior to adjournment.

The Rock Island Bennigan’s Grill & Tavern is located at 226 17th St.

Rock Island-Milan School District #41’s board of education consists of seven community members chosen by school district voters on a non-partisan ballot. Board members contribute their time on a volunteer basis, and the jurisdiction places an emphasis on leadership training for all board members.

The district comprises nine elementary schools, two junior highs and two senior high schools.

School board meetings are held for the purpose of conducting school business in public. Generally, the board convenes twice monthly unless otherwise announced and usually meets at the high school library at 1400 25th Ave., while school district headquarters are located at 2101 Sixth Ave.
