A Moline High School junior has been honored with the Youth of the Year award.
Moline High School junior Christian Sotero was announced Wednesday as the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley's Youth of the Year.
The award has been given annually since 1947 to Boys and Girls Club members who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to service, community, family, academic success, moral character, life goals, poise and public speaking skills.
In being selected as the local winner, Sotero earns the right to compete in the statewide Youth of the Year contest in Bloomington from April 19-21. From there, Sotero is eligible for scholarships and may continue on to regional and national Youth of the Year events.
