The Rock Island Board of Zoning Appeals met March 9 to hold public hearing on a request from Andrew Parer and Andrea Bonner for a special exception to expand a non-conforming use in a light industrial district at 302 35th Ave.
The public hearing was closed, as no one wished to speak.
The board also discussed a request from Peggy Crawford for a variance to allow three portable freestanding signs in a PUD district at 2411 Fourth Ave.; and discussed a request from John Curtis for a variance of 280 feet of the 300-foot separation requirements between an existing Unrelated Group Family Use in an R-3 district at 721 29th St.
The board has final city review authority through conducting public hearings for the following land development requests: zoning and sign ordinance variances; zoning special exceptions, authorized uses and temporary uses; and interpretation of zoning ordinances and zoning maps.
